Trading with the UK
There is an exceptionally strong network of organisations within the UK energy community supporting the goal of increasing the UK's share of the world energy markets and facilitating overseas companies finding the right UK partners.
The UK is a trading nation with a long history. International trading is a goal of most UK companies in the energy sector and of course the UK already has a proud tradition in this field.
The Oil & Gas Sector continues to be a success story for UK companies despite the relative decline in the UK's own stocks of these sources of energy. UK companies now lead the world in many areas of finding, developing and extracting Oil & Gas, managing, maintaining and servicing OIl & Gas installations and very successfully export their products and services to developing fields as diverse as Canada's Oil Sands to Sakahlin in Russia.
In the Power sector the UK's key strengths include world class capability in the areas of advisory services, equipment manufacture and supply, technical consultancy and Power station operation and management. The UK's growing capability in clean coal technology and Carbon Capture and Storage will create further trading opportunities in the future. London is a centre of excellence for Carbon Emissions Trading.
In the Nuclear Sector the UK Government's commitment to revitalising this industry will lead to opportuities for UK companies to develop export services in this field. Long recognised as world class in decommissioning Nuclear Facilities, the replacement of current Nuclear Facilities will clearly impact on the UK's capabilities in this area.
In Renewable Energy the UK's Government's high level commitment to reducing carbon emissions will create a growing UK based industry in Wind Power generation and in Wave and Tidal power generation. From the foundations being laid by investments in these sectors UK companies will develop leading edge technologies and export these around the world. Our Research and Development in this area is cutting edge.
Underpinning these sectors is a world class community of organisations focused on improving the UK's trading performance. Many of these are Partner Organisations of UK Energy Excellence and offer significant access to UK companies and information on their products, materials and skills.
The UK Energy community is present at most of the significant international trade events throughout the world such as the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston or the American Wind Energy Association annual gathering.
