World demand for electricity is set to rise markedly over the next two decades.
Global electricity generation is forecast by the US Dept of Energy to rise from 16.4 billion
KWh in 2004 to 30 billion KWh by 2030. Much of this growth is projected for nations outside the
OECD. The International Energy Agency has projected that between 2006-2030 the cumulative
investment in the global energy supply infrastructure will be $22 trillion of which just over 50%
of all investment needs will be in the electricity infrastructure. That is a financial investment
of some $11trillion.
UKTI are organising a unique multi-country inward mission involving transmission &
distribution companies from a number of countries with identified high growth potential for UK
firms.
